February will bring us an amazing book written and illustrated by Selma Tufail.
The outline of the book in Amazon describes it with the following words:
CON YANCI: When Chickens Fly, and the other short stories in this series are allegories inspired by the Lakota legend, Iktomi and the Ducks. In this Native American legend, a spider called Iktomi persuades some gullible ducks to enter his hut and then kills them for dinner. The message is simple: be an independent thinker and don’t be fooled by confidence tricksters.
The message in CON YANCI: When Chickens Fly relates to global challenges faced by women and girls especially when it comes to education. The trickster-spider here is called Yanci. Every story in this series has a different theme that is relevant to issues in the 21st century.
