December Meeting, "Koli chooses its people" by Marta Moreno & Lorenzo Hernández

In our December meeting, we'll discuss our partner Marta's book "Koli chooses its people" published by AURORABOREAL. In addition to the text, we will enjoy the magnificent photographs by Lorenzo Hernández that collect all the experiences written in the book.

"In August 2022 we were granted the opportunity to visit Koli as artists in residence. Koli is a village of 250 inhabitants located in the heart of a nature park in North Karelia, Finland. The objective of this photography book has been to make a portrait of Koli as it is now, with its people, its memories, and its landscapes. For a month we integrated into the daily life of its inhabitants, photographing and interviewing them. The impressive landscape of this area has become one more character. We hope that this book will help preserve this reality for future generations and make the daily life and landscape of this unique region known to the whole world. We would not like to say too much, just to say that the first thing that attracted us upon arrival was the immense beauty of the landscape, but as the days passed, it was the charm of the people that won our hearts."
